Project Manager- Supply Chain

The Project Manager is responsible for the overall direction, planning, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of specific IT projects according to the approved scope, timelines, and budget. The Project Manager will also oversee quality control through all phases of the project. Projects typically include small to large warehouse implementations, process optimization requiring system change, new technology innovation, infrastructure and/or software upgrades.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Lead the initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and controlling, and closing of the project
  • Some exposure to Program Management.
  • Prepare project charters
  • Identify project tasks and resource requirements working with the project team
  • Plan, schedule, and manage project timelines, dependencies, and milestones through the use of a project plan
  • Identify, assemble and coordinate project resources
  • Prepare and manage project budget
  • Uses various project management tools and software applications to proactively track, monitor and control project deliverables
  • Manages the triple constraint (time vs. scope vs. cost)
  • Prioritize and delegate project tasks, providing timely direction and support to project team on a day to day basis
  • Proactively manage project risks, including the identification of mitigation strategies
  • Performs project reporting & communications (Including weekly status updates and/or Exec Steering Committee meetings)
  • Challenges performance gaps of project team members and provides coaching/mentoring support
  • Facilitate meetings and design workshops, testing activities, and post go live support keeping a keen eye on quality

Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years proven experience in a project management role, preferable to supply chain and/or system implementation projects
  • SAP Experience – preferably in WM. Additional experience in Truck Mate is an asset
  • Proven experience in Supply Chain Management with focus on warehousing and logistics. Additional experience in Transportation is an asset.
  • Ability to take charge and lead. A self-starter who is accountable
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) with the ability to influence
  • Strong planning, organizational and keen attention to detail, but also able to see the big picture
  • Process oriented including use of IT project methodology such as SDLC (System Development Lifecycle)
  • Experience applying theoretical aspects of project management on a project
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Some experience with personnel management
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to work effectively under pressure
  • Sense of urgency and professionalism when dealing with customers, other employees, and vendors/carriers
  • Ability to define problems, collect and analyze data, establish facts and prioritize effectively
  • University degree (bachelor’s degree or the global equivalent) in Business, Engineering, Logistics, or equivalent
  • PMP certified or working towards designation
