Defense & regulated industries

SPICE™ BYOC (bring your own cloud) deploys the complete SPICE™ Supply Chain Collaboration Platform as a dedicated, single-tenant environment in your Azure subscription or AWS account, so compute and customer data stay inside the cloud boundary defense and regulated programs require.

Keep the SPICE™ platform, compute and data inside your cloud boundary

SPICE™ BYOC (bring your own cloud) deploys the complete cloud-native, microservices-based platform as a dedicated, single-tenant environment within your Azure subscription or AWS account. All compute resources and customer data can remain inside your cloud boundary.

SPICE™ offers two deployment models: SaaS, which most customers use, and BYOC, deployed by SPICE™ in your cloud. Who handles infrastructure, access, monitoring, updates and support is agreed in the architecture review. We meet you where your infrastructure is. BYOC is open to any organization that wants the platform in its own cloud; defense and regulated programs are where it matters most. Compare the two deployment models.

Deployment architecture is a buying criterion

For defense and federally regulated programs, deployment cannot be reduced to a feature checklist. Buyers need to validate where the platform runs, where data resides, how workloads are isolated and who is accountable for operating each layer.

  • Customer cloud boundary Run the platform in your Azure subscription or AWS account so application compute and customer data can remain within the approved cloud perimeter.
  • Dedicated environment Use a single-tenant SPICE™ environment isolated from other customers while retaining the complete platform experience.
  • Cloud-native microservices Deploy the same modern microservices-based architecture as SPICE™ SaaS, not a legacy application moved or containerized in the cloud.
  • Data residency Keep application data, transaction data and associated platform resources within the approved customer cloud region and boundary.
  • Governed integration Connect ERP, WMS, TMS and B2B systems through defined interfaces without creating an unmanaged path around the cloud boundary.
  • Clear accountability Define access, monitoring, updates, support and incident responsibilities as part of the deployment architecture.

Cloud-native architecture without leaving your environment

BYOC gives regulated organizations control of the operating boundary while retaining the same modern SPICE™ platform architecture.

  • Microservices can scale independently according to workload.
  • Service isolation supports resilience and controlled change.
  • API-first integration supports enterprise and B2B systems.
  • Dedicated single-tenant deployment separates the environment from other customers.
  • Azure Government can be supported where required.
  • The SPICE™ process, product and support model remains consistent across eligible cloud deployments.

The central requirement: the complete application environment, including compute resources and customer data, can remain inside your cloud boundary.

Governed collaboration with every trading partner

Regulated supply chains combine complex supplier tiers, controlled processes and trading partners with very different technical capabilities. Inside your boundary, SPICE™ applies your rules to every one of them across procure-to-pay, order-to-cash and the logistics that runs through both. SPICE Web OMS™ gives suppliers not on EDI a governed channel, SPICE iKompli™ certifies EDI trading partners before go-live, SPICE Insight™ keeps a connected record of every order with exception management, and SPICE Connect™ provides 24×7 support for the program.

What defense and regulated buyers should validate

Use these questions during security, architecture and procurement review.

  • Where does application compute run? Confirm that every SPICE™ workload in the BYOC model runs inside the customer-controlled Azure or AWS account.
  • Where does data reside? Document the approved region and boundary for transaction data, application data, logs and backups.
  • Is the platform cloud native? Validate a microservices-based architecture with the operating boundary defined for your organization.
  • How is the environment isolated? Review tenant separation, network boundaries and access paths for the dedicated deployment.
  • How do systems connect? Map governed interfaces to ERP, WMS, TMS, B2B infrastructure and trading partner channels.
  • Who operates each layer? Define customer and SPICE™ responsibilities for infrastructure, platform updates, monitoring, incident response and 24×7 support.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can SPICE run in our own cloud?

Yes. With SPICE™ BYOC (bring your own cloud), the complete platform is deployed as a dedicated, single-tenant environment in your Azure subscription or AWS account, with Azure Government supported where required. Application compute and customer data can stay inside your approved boundary and region.

Is BYOC a different product?

No. It's the same cloud-native, microservices-based platform used for SPICE™ SaaS, with the same processes, trading partner model and products. Only the operating boundary changes.

Is BYOC only for defense?

No. Defense and regulated programs are the main reason it exists, but any organization that wants SPICE™ inside its own cloud can choose BYOC. Most customers use SaaS.

Who supports a BYOC deployment?

SPICE™ deploys the platform in your Azure subscription or AWS account. Who handles infrastructure, access, monitoring, updates and support is agreed in the architecture review, and SPICE Connect™ provides 24×7 support for the program.

What assurance documentation is available?

Requirements differ by program, so we review them with your security and architecture teams. Ask for the current assurance materials during evaluation, and we'll map them against your specific control requirements.
