Both models run the same software. What changes is whose cloud it runs in.
- SaaS (software as a service): the provider runs the platform in its own cloud and manages infrastructure, monitoring and updates. You connect your systems and trading partners and use it.
- BYOC (bring your own cloud): the provider deploys a dedicated, single-tenant instance of the platform inside a cloud account you own, such as an Azure subscription, an AWS account or Azure Government. Compute and data stay inside your cloud boundary.
SaaS suits most companies that want a managed, cloud-first environment. BYOC is chosen when regulation, security policy or data-sovereignty rules require applications and data to stay inside the organization’s own cloud, as is common in defense and other regulated industries, or simply when a company wants the platform in the cloud it already runs. With BYOC, ask who deploys, operates and updates the platform: some BYOC offerings leave that work to your team.
